Mudbug Works Foundation & Trades Network serves individuals who are ready to build a better future through skilled trades. We are committed to supporting:

  • Teens and young adults exploring alternatives to traditional four-year college pathways and seeking rewarding, hands-on careers.
  • Adults starting over, including those changing careers, re-entering the workforce, or looking for new opportunities to achieve financial stability.
  • Veterans and military families transitioning into civilian careers through the skilled trades.
  • Individuals facing financial barriers who need assistance with tuition, tools, equipment, certifications, transportation, or other workforce-related expenses.
  • Trade students and apprentices pursuing careers in fields such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding, construction, automotive, machining, diesel technology, carpentry, and other skilled professions.
  • Employers and industry partners seeking to connect with motivated, well-prepared individuals entering the skilled trades workforce.

Through mentorship, scholarships, internships, career readiness training, networking opportunities, job placement assistance, and partnerships with educators and industry leaders, we help individuals gain the skills, confidence, and connections needed to build successful careers and strengthen the communities they serve.

Age

We serve individuals ages 16 and older, with programs tailored to each stage of their career journey. We introduce high school students to the skilled trades through career exploration, provide students with hands-on learning and mentorship, and support adults pursuing new career opportunities through education, workforce development, and industry connections. Our goal is to meet individuals where they are and help them build successful careers in the skilled trades.

Eligibility for Participation

We welcome all individuals who are legally authorized to participate in education, training, or employment programs within the United States, as applicable to each program.

Applicants may be asked to provide documentation of their eligibility when required by law, program guidelines, employers, educational institutions, or funding partners.

The Foundation is committed to providing opportunities based on an individual's motivation, character, and desire to pursue a career in the skilled trades while complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Criminal History Policy

We believe in the power of second chances and the opportunity to build a better future through skilled trades. Applicants with a criminal history are encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis.

Eligibility decisions will take into account the nature of the offense, the amount of time since it occurred, evidence of rehabilitation, employment history, and any potential safety concerns related to participation in Foundation programs.

To protect families we serve, background checks may be required for certain programs, volunteer positions, internships, mentorship roles, and leadership opportunities. Individuals whose criminal history presents a direct safety risk or who are legally prohibited from participating in certain activities may be determined ineligible for those specific roles.

Our goal is to provide opportunities whenever it can be done responsibly, while maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all participants.
